VORTEX is a diversely operating organization driven by a young and dynamic team, which forms the core of the manufacturing and marketing activities. Primarily, a clutch and brake manufacturer for the industrial machine drives

VORTEX is fast establishing itself in electromagnetic clutch drives for special automotive transmissions and electromagnetic braking solutions for modern electric machines, apart from becoming an accepted name for its industrial clutch and brake products in the western markets.

Simultaneously the clairvoyant management has been instrumental in developing new clutch and brake product lines to cater to the new demands of the evolving markets.

VORTEX produces electromagnetic, pneumatic, and mechanical clutches and brakes for a variety of applications ranging from the industrial to the automotive sectors. VORTEX now has a close co-operation with M/S BARUFFALDI S.P.A of Italy for electromagnetic drive solutions for control of vehicle engine driven auxiliaries. Additionally, VORTEX also operates a Joint-venture with M/S KNOTT GmBH of Germany, working to introduce several lines of brake and brake actuation solutions for the world off-highway machinery and vehicle market.

VORTEX, as an extension to its manufacturing activities, also operated a trading division to promote the products of its partner principles from Europe. This includes the line of economy and precision gear-heads, high-low speed drives, hysteresis clutch & brake line, the highly compact line of ultra-precision servo reduction drives, etc.

Historical Background

1975

Setting up of 1st manufacturing unit for developing electromagnetic multi-disc clutches and brakes for the first time in India

1978

Successful development and production of electromagnetic clutches and brakes in India, won for our founders the prestigious "National Award for Import-substitution"

1983

Vortex Engineering Works (VORTEX) was set up to extend the production range to cover the single-disc industrial electromagnetic clutches and brakes & clutch and brake discs.

1997-99

New team takes over the reins and initiates rebuilding of the entire VORTEX business structure & portfolio; Period of re-establishment of VORTEX in Indian market with in-house production and a professional marketing team put into place for the geographically vast Indian market

2000

First foray into the foreign export markets with the first batch of electromagnetic clutches and brakes delivered to customers in Germany and Italy. Establishment of co-operation with M/S ZF Machinenantreibe GmBH, on multiple levels for their various industrial transmission products.

2003

Birth of a 100% EOU, CORE DRIVELINES INDIA (P) LTD. to give further thrust and impetus to our drive into foreign markets, starting with contract manufacturing of electromagnetic brake for our Italian partners, M/S BARUFFALDI S.P.A

2008-11

Green-field in-house design & development of an electromagnetic clutch (multiple mode operation) for automotive power closure system and supply for global automotive 1st tier major

2010-13

Signing of the JV with M/s BARUFFALDI, Italy for electromagnetic drive solutions for control of vehicle engine auxiliaries. M/S CORE DRIVELINES INDIA (P) LTD. converted into the Joint-Venture Company, M/S VORTEX BARUFFALDI PVT. LTD., which subsequently received contract from first Indian OEM Vehicle Manufacturer to use EMC Fan drive on their new generation ultra-light commercial vehicle

2013

Signing of MOU with M/S KNOTT GmbH Germany to set up a new company to manufacture and sell M/S KNOTT range of brakes and brake actuation systems for off-highway machinery; Extension of cooperation with KNOTT to introduce a range of electromagnetic brakes for their global off-highway machinery customers, especially in the material handling truck industry.

2015

Development & Launch of a new line of Permanent Magnet Brakes for Servo Motor applications

2016

Developed and launched serial production of electromagnetic clutch for speed limiting device used in commercial vehicles for Indian 1st tier automotive component manufacturing customer

2016-17

Process of formation of the new JV Company, M/S KNOTT VORTEX PVT. LTD. completed & launch of First Serial Production of brakes from the JV company, M/S KNOTT VORTEX PVT. LTD. for one of World’s leading & Japanese-headquartered Material Handling Truck OEM for their new line of electric counterbalance trucks produced from their European plant

2018

VORTEX develops electromagnetic clutch solution for new generation electric bus applications and pilot serial production begins

2018-20

KNOTT VORTEX PVT. LTD. designs and develops customized electromagnetic braking solutions for its global customers in the field of electric material handling and mobility equipment
